Another Closing of Another Show!

Well if you missed "Sordid Lives" then you missed your chance to catch a great show. Thanks to all our patrons and our awesome cast for making "Sordid Lives" such a funny show. I believe that it was the first show in the history of Stage Door Inc. to be given a R rating.

Not to worry all you theatre nuts, we got a great show for the family. "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" takes all of our favorite "Peanuts" characters and puts them on stage. This is a full energy show targeted to children for all ages. "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" kicks off our family summer series also to include: "The Wizard of Oz" and "Mulan Jr.". Yours truly will be making an appearance as the musically talented Schoeder. Yes my friends, I will be singing, dancing and acting all at the same time. So make it a point to come out and see "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" at Stage Door Inc., Pasadena's Primier Theatre to see Theatre at It's Finest! Tickets are on sale now!!! GREASE IS STILL THE WORD!
Rock 'n Roll Musical Grease kicks off Stage Door Inc. Center for the Performing Arts and Education’s 2009 Live, Laugh, and Love Season. All of the area's hippest cats and kittens will be high-tailing it to Stage Door Inc. as the classic musical Grease roars onto the stage from January 9 – February 1, 2009.
Grease is the story of summer lovers-the too-cool-for-school Danny Zuko (Aurturo “Link” Soriano) and the sweet and naïve Sandy Dombrowski (Katelyn Norman). Thinking theirs was just a summer fling, the pair are surprised to discover that due to a move by Sandy's family, they will spend their senior year together at Rydell High.
Danny struggles to keep his cool in front of fellow Burger Palace Boys, Kenickie (Justin Nicholson), Roger (Mark Connelly), Sonny (Bryan Burleigh) and Doody (Enrique Cavazos), while showing Sandy enough of the sweet side that attracted her in the first place. Meanwhile, Sandy is taken under the collective wing of the Pink Ladies, Rydell's toughest and coolest chick clique. Her new friends, including the tough-talking Rizzo (Renee van Nifterik), ditsy Frenchy (Samantha Perez), flirtatious Marty (Misty Banks) and jokester Jan (Danielle Knight), soon have her smoking ciggies and ratting her hair, but does the girl underneath really change?
This timeless tale of teen romance, dirty dancing and hot cars plays out to a soundtrack of tunes that are regularly greeted with raucous enthusiasm by theatre-lovers everywhere. Audiences will be treated to high-energy classics such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightning and We Go Together, as well as sensitive ballads that include There are Worse Things I Could Do and Hopelessly Devoted to You.

Grease is the brainchild of self-proclaimed greasers, Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, a pair of amateur actors and musicians who met through the Chicago theatre scene. Having grown tired of the same dated melodies that were the mainstay of Broadway musicals at the time, the pair decided to set the experiences of their youth to the music they grew up loving. First staged by an amateur cast in an old Chicago tram shed, Grease played to packed houses for a year before, with some minor retooling, Grease made its Broadway debut to similar audience acclaim. By the time the lights went down for the last time, Grease had established a record for the longest running musical in Broadway history.
Performances run January 9 – February 1 2009, Friday through Sunday. Performance times are: 8 Friday and Saturday evenings, 3 PM on Sundays. Tickets range in price from $15 general admission to $12 for Seniors (60+), and $10 for Students (must have student ID) GROUP RATES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE.

Biggest Haunt in Houston

Just a big update on the Stages of Fear haunted house. We are currently as of Oct. 29th, the scariest haunted house in the Houston area. We are also among the top 10 scariest haunted house in all of Texas. I think that is the coolest thing. We still have one more night of haunts left in us at Stages of Fear. Make sure to make plans to come visit us on Halloween night to get the last scare of the season. Tickets are still only $5 and the house open at 6:30. With out a voice

Well it seems that i have been down on my job. All with good reason. We opened up our second annual "Stages of Fear" haunted house with great success. It has been a blast! We have had over 100 people visit us already. I have to be honest, i do find some pleasure in scaring the living day lights out of anyone that walks through my door. Don't judge me it's for a good cause.
We have come up with a new service for all you Christmas shoppers out there. Stage Door will be offering a gift wrapping service station at Pasadena Town Square Mall. It will be loads of fun and make us some much needed moo-la. Our gift wrapping service will start up on Nov. 28th (black Friday). So if you are out early grabbing those turkey driven sales. Stop on by, say hi and get your gifts wrapped.
We think we have finally finished casting "Christmas Bells". This show has had more turn overs then a state fair. The cast is very talented and I am sure that it will be a big success for SDI.
I am still working on getting the flyer from our much beloved fans up on the website and all of our radio spots. Thanks so much for your support.

Hello again. So sorry I have not posted in a long time. Things of gotten really busy lately here a Stage Door Inc. As everyone already know we are hosting our second annual "Stages of Fear" haunted house at Pasadena Town Square Mall. We have been featured on many website and now on the radio. This is very exciting! Our new found friends from KPFT talked about us again on the radio. Thanks so much to the employees and staff at KPFT for supporting our theatre. It means so much to have a good friend in the great Houston community.
Is everyone familiar with Fred Phelps and the WBC. Well they sent out a nice little press release about our last production of "The Laramie Project". Thanks so much to the members of that community for taking time to write a little blurb about us. We are just sorry you were not here to enjoy the show with us. Maybe next time. I will hopefully be getting our radio spots and the nice press release up on the website some time this week. It is just getting hard with all the zombies starting to come in. Well I hope to see all of you at the opening of "Stages of Fear"

The Good with the Bad

So we got a lot of news to cover today. Let's start off with some good news. Stage Door Inc. was featured on 90.1 "After Hours" show on Sunday, Oct. 5th. It was so much fun to be on the radio with Marc and the rest of the gang. There should be a link somewhere on our website that will let you listen to it. Thanks so much to the people at 90.1 for making us feel welcomed. I hope we get to go back again. Another cast member from "The Laramie Project" will be going on the airways this Friday, Oct. 10th. I will give you more information as it comes in. We are still looking for volunteers and donations for "Stages of Fear" if you or someone you know would like to volunteer or donate money or supplies, send us an e-mail or give us a ring. Ok, for the kinda bad news. Stage Door Inc. will be moving. No we are not going away, we are just moving down the mall. This is were we could really use your help. I will give you more information as everything gets finalized. Moving could be a big plus for Stage Door Inc. On the side that we are moving there is a whole lot more traffic in the mall then where we are now! Remember that tickets are still available for "The Laramie Project" and we will be closing on Sunday night and that all donation are tax deductible.

Its the Halloween Season

Well it looks like no one has posted anything on this blog for a while. So now i am here and i will use this blog to get you up to date information about your local theatre and also commentate on theatre news both local and abroad. My name is Zack Varela and I am the new Marketing Manager at Stage Door Inc. and I am very excited to be able to communicate with you our most valuable asset. Yes it is the Halloween Season and everyone at Stage Door Inc. Is gearing up for our Second Annual "Stages of Fear". It is going to be our scariest haunted house yet. OK, yes i know we have only had two so far, but still. "Stages of Fear" will begin on Oct. 17th and run every weekend until Halloween night. We are still looking for volunteers and actors to help out, so if you or someone you know is interested zap a line or give us a call. Well tonight is our first read through of "Christmas Belles" and I am very excited. Marc Glover has compiled a great cast of very talented actors. That show opens Nov. 28th. Until next time. the group from stage door will be out and about joining in on the christmas fun....we will also have a booth where we will be doing face painting.....we are wanting everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities as well as support us in our efforts to raise money for filing for our non-profit status...if you want to help us on the night of the event let me know asap...we are looking for anyone that would be interested in helping us with the face painting as well as assiting dario with the pictures.....again hope to see you all out there....and have a blessed holiday
